Hello. My name is J R Giuliano, and this is my blog, where I will occasionally post about my life and what I see going on around me. I'll start with a quote from my eldest sister, Jo:
“The month before, lightning struck our chimney, and set our house on fire. Mom was in the basement when it happened - she escaped serious injury but her neck and arm were scarred for life, and she was badly shaken from that. We were all worried that her pregnancy was in jeopardy. While she was in the hospital, our whole family waited at home, hoping for news that Mom had safely delivered a healthy son or daughter. The day was September perfect - crisp, bright, blue sky and not a cloud in sight. You were a curly, black-haired, apple-cheeked, chubby, ten-plus pound, healthy baby - the only one of us born in a hospital. We jumped around, danced, whistled, and clapped - we were so happy. Pop said, "This good news calls for a celebration with a real American dinner" That night for supper, we had Hot Dogs”. I heard that story - the Hot Dog part - from both of my sisters on, at least, 70 of my 85 birthdays - that must have been quite a moment.
I don't know how many moments I've had in the 31,250 days since then, but it’s those moments that have accumulated over my lifetime that I remember best. The first, of many vivid memories of the moments I've had, is about the only grandparent I ever met, and the very moment she (my grandmother) handed me a shiny, red apple she pulled from inside the sleeve of her oversized black sweater. That was eye-popping, happy, and pure magic.
No one on earth has had all the same experiences I’ve had, and, likely, no one ever will. It’s that part, “About me”, that has given rise to my stories that span across the major part of a century. I'll tell you random snippets of them in no particular order. Hopefully, you will find some interesting, informative, worthwhile, or even entertaining.
